Das belgische CF-Register befindet sich seit 2006 im Rahmen des oben beschriebenen CF-Übereinkommens. Die Teilnahme an der Datenerhebung für das CF-Register ist eine der obligatorischen Aufgaben der CF-Referenzzentren. Ziel des Registers ist es, epidemiologische Aspekte von CF in Belgien zu untersuchen, die Rolle des Registers bei der Bewertung der Qualität der Versorgung von CF-Patienten zu stärken, eine Datenbank für wissenschaftliche Forschung für CF-Forscher bereitzustellen und am Europäischen CF-Patientenregister (EGASPR) und anderen internationalen Projekten teilzunehmen. Die klinischen und demografischen Daten werden für alle Patienten einmal jährlich vom behandelnden Arzt aus Krankenakten erhoben und bestehen aus mehr als 200 erfassten Items.
