Jedes Zentrum verfügt über spezifische Fachkenntnisse in der CF-Pflege und gewährleistet eine multidisziplinäre Nachsorge der Patienten, um dem Patienten und seinen Angehörigen eine optimale medizinische, paramedizinische, psychologische und soziale Versorgung zu bieten. Das belgische KF-Register liegt seit 2006 im Rahmen des oben beschriebenen KF-Übereinkommens. Die Teilnahme an der Datenerhebung für das KF-Register ist eine der obligatorischen Aufgaben der KF-Referenzzentren. Ziel des Registers ist die Untersuchung epidemiologischer Aspekte von CF in Belgien, die Stärkung der Rolle des Registers bei der Bewertung der Qualität der Versorgung von CF-Patienten, die Bereitstellung einer Datenbank für wissenschaftliche Forschung für CF-Forscher und die Teilnahme am Europäischen CF-Patientenregister (EGASPR) und anderen internationalen Projekten. Die klinischen und demografischen Daten werden für alle Patienten einmal jährlich vom behandelnden Arzt aus Krankenakten erhoben und bestehen aus mehr als 200 erfassten Artikeln. Alle Referenzzentren und das INAMI-RIZIV erhalten jedes Jahr einen nationalen Jahresbericht.
